Maintaining Healthy, Happy Smiles
Here at Healthy Chelsea Dental, each and every one of our patients is treated with the highest quality of care, as if you’re part of our New York family. That’s why the health, function, and beauty of your smile are our highest priority.
We provide comprehensive services for the entire family, both young and old, to ensure nothing but the best possible care. Together, we can help you maintain a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Dental Exams and Cleanings
During your regular check-up, we’ll examine your mouth to look for signs of cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, and more. Our dental hygienist will give you a professional cleaning to prevent any plaque and tartar from building up. We’ll also thoroughly polish your teeth for a spotless and fresh-feeling smile.
For new patients, we’ll use our advanced digital imaging technology to take a set of high-quality dental x-rays. This allows us to get a better understanding of your oral health and catch any problems that aren’t easily detected with the naked eye.
Root Canal Therapy
The deepest layer of your tooth, known as the root canal, can quickly become infected if a cavity, cracked tooth, or broken tooth is left untreated. This infection can result in inflammation, severe pain, gum swelling, and tooth sensitivity.
Fortunately, Dr. Boyd provides effective root canal therapy to save your tooth and restore it to optimal health. Using special tools, we’ll create a small hole to gently remove any infected tissue and protect your tooth with a beautiful, natural-looking dental crown.
Treatment for Gum Disease
Periodontal disease, more commonly known as gum disease, is a serious infection that damages the gums and can destroy the bone tissue that supports your teeth. When left untreated, gum disease can result in:
- Bright red, sore, and swollen gums
- Bleeding when brushing or flossing
- Bad breath, or halitosis
- Teeth that don’t fit together when you bite down
- Loose teeth or even tooth loss
- Gums pull away from the tooth, making them appear longer
Here at our New York office, Dr. Boyd has all the necessary tools and experience to treat even the most advanced instances of gum disease. If caught early on, we can often treat your gum disease with proper oral hygiene techniques.
However, for more severe cases, Dr. Boyd may recommend a deep cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing. We’ll determine the best course of action after examining the health of your teeth and gums.
